A Little Bit About Me…

Hi, I’m Georgina, the creator of this travel blog. Postcards Pending is inspired by my habit of collecting postcards from everyplace I go and documenting my trip memories on the back of them. Doing this has ensured that I never forget the little details which made each of my trips unique. Whether it’s a flashback to being in fits of laughter with a friend because we attempted to navigate Pompeii without a guide, getting lost multiple times and having no idea what we were looking at. Then there are moments of falling off a jet ski or dancing in the bar below our Airbnb in Copenhagen while learning what the Danish word for ‘cheers’ is (it’s skål for those wondering).

As my desire to travel more has grown, so has my postcard collection. I’ve been trying to make the most of any travel opportunity which comes my way. Whilst not all my trips have a budget (I’ve yet to master finding affordable flight deals), I have learnt ways to cut costs and plan effectively to travel frequently and continue to create meaningful experiences. With big plans ahead, I’ve decided to take my postcards online to share my memories and adventures with friends, family and fellow travel enthusiasts.

Now, I definitely understand the anxieties which surround travel. I’m typically an over-thinker and will never be able to fully shake the desire to meticulously prepare every aspect of a trip. However, in embracing slow travel, adapting when things don’t go to plan and saying yes to opportunities, I’ve been able to enjoy unexpected moments. My experiences have really helped to build my confidence, positively shaping the way I travel.

Postcards Pending aims to share what I’ve learnt so far, providing honest reflections, practical tips and handcrafted travel resources. I hope that my insights will facilitate your own adventures, showing that travel is shaped by what you make of it and who you share it with. So, consider this your collection of digital postcards, sent with the intention of being useful for wherever you’re headed to next and most importantly, to keep my loved ones in the loop.
